Define 'Personal Sovereignty'

Today as I begin anew, this business of 'personal sovereignty' has me curious... I begin my research with the definition. In my own words this is what I understand it to be:
Personal Sovereignty - the inherent authority and power of an individual to determine his or her own direction and destiny.
